Our Big Sunday Adventure

Dear Family and Friends,

Today was a typical winter day here in California, cold at 50 degrees, some fog this morning but a sunny day this afternoon.

I texted Lois to see if she and Ray wanted a big adventure, they were up for it so at 1:15 we left our homes.
We drove to a Valero station which is located on Cypress Street and I went in to purchase a ticket for $7.75.  Then we drove down a narrow road heading north and and eventually onto the levee road that twists and turns following the levees that keep water in its place.  We took a wrong turn but back tracked and finally found the right place and since there was one other car there we parked.  We were on our way to Bradford Island and it can only be reached by Ferry.  The Ferry runs only a few times a day and there is even talk of shutting it down.  We drove onto the deck which can hold up to 8 cars and soon we were on our way.  The day was calm with no wind and we made good time arriving in about 15 minutes to unload onto our Island.  Then we drove and found the property I was to inspect, did our work and then drove back in time to catch the last ride of the day.  I've included a few photos.  You don't find ferries like this very often in the entire state of California.

Lois and Ray really got into the spirit of the whole day and enjoyed it a lot.  On our way home we drifted into Oakley and found a Burger King.  Then it was home to build a fire, play with the dogs and watch some Miami CSI and the last episode of Hawaii 5 0 which seems to be even more interesting since I was just there.

Here are a few photos of our big adventure.  I hope you enjoy them.

Love

tim
